Pecan Growers from across the state of Georgia and surrounding states converge at the USDA Southeastern Fruit and Tree Nut Research Laboratory in Byron Georgia today for the fall field day posted by the Georgia pecan Growers Association.
The field day consists of educational seminars in the orchards learning about research done at the facilities on the latest techniques and growing practices.
Topics range from scab management to tree nutrition, and everything in between. The field day is a valuable opportunity for new pecan growers To gain new skills and resources, as well as for seasoned Growers to get updates on best practices and new research.
The event lasts for most of the morning followed with a lunch served at the research facilities, if you are a grower in the area it would be worth visiting to catch up on the latest growing techniques and research being done for pecans in the Southeastern US.
