PRICES PAID TO GROWERS

Deliveries by growers were fairly light this week. Most buying stations have closed for the year and the bulk of new offerings are late hand-picked seedlings. Quality of late offerings highly variable but overall yields ranging from 38-39 percent meat yields. Sheller demand very light.


The weather forecast this week calling for highs in the upper 60s to mid-30s and lows in low 20s to mid-30s.


Prices paid to growers (noon Tuesday, January 23, 2018 to noon Tuesday, January 30, 2018) at buyers’ delivery points or F.O.B. the orchard including direct sales to end users, cents per pound, in-shell of generally good quality in lots of 20,000 pounds or less unless otherwise stated.

Deliveries by growers to delivery points of Improved varieties were fairly light. Demand was fairly good for good quality pecans.

Harvesting is expected to decrease, as most harvesting has been completed for the season. Harvested quality has been generally good.


The weather forecast for the next week calls for low temperatures in the upper 20s to mid-40s, with highs in the mid-60s to upper 70s.

There is no precipitation projected for the next week.


Buying interest displayed by end users was moderate for in-shell, gift pack use, and moderate for commercial sheller use as shellers continue to utilize inventories on hand or make purchases from other production areas or wait for additional availability of nuts. Trading was moderate for in-shell and gift pack uses. Deliveries and purchases of Improved varieties mostly Western Schley were moderate.
